Who: Open to all registered Whisper runners.

What: Sherwood Youth Track Meet. As information is added to the host athletic.net page, this page will be updated.

When (rolling schedule):

Track Events: Will start at 8:15 AM AM and will be rolling. Events include the 3k, Hurdles, 800m, 100m, 400m, 1500m, & 200m.

Field Events: Will Start at 8:15 AM. Long Jump (young to old), High Jump (old to young).

Who: Registered runners preparing for spring track (or spring XC for ESD/VSD middle school runners).

What: Sprint, middle-distance, and distance training. Since HS track and field has begun, we will train at the Hudson’s Bay HS track, dirt track to the south of Hudson’s Bay HS, or nearby location.

When: We will aim to start and finish on-time.

Where: Start and finish location on nice days will be at the Hudson’s Bay High School Track, 1601 E McLoughlin Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98663. On terribly cold and/or windy days, we may finish at Clark College in the OSC building room. At 6:45pm, we will meet parents in front of OSC in the Red 2 parking lot. Tuesday - Fisher Basin Park (Shahala MS), 5:30-6:45pm

Who: Registered runners preparing for the sprint track season (or XC season for Evergreen/Vancouver School District Middle School girls).

What: Sprint, middle-distance, and distance training.

When: We will aim to begin and end on-time. Runners coming from their school practice, be sure to have something light to eat between practices, and some water or Gatorade. For all others, be sure to have a snack between school and practice (water/Gatorade too).

Where: Fisher Basin Park (SE 192nd Ave, Camas, WA 98607). Upon driving into the parking lot, continue straight through the stop sign and park near the end of the lot.  We will meet along the sidewalk between the parking lot and the park. We will likely use the track at Shahala MS (depending on its availability). The track is on the north side of the portable buildings. 

What to Bring/Wear: Runners should attend dressed for the conditions wearing layers they can peal off as they get warm: shorts, sweat bottoms, shirt, long-sleeve shirt, windbreaker jacket, and possibly gloves and hat. Thursday - Pacific Park, 5:30-6:45pm

WHO: Registered Whisper runners

WHAT: Middle distance and distance training.

WHERE: Pacific Park (1515 N.E. 164th Ave - Vancouver, WA). Using the PDF map as a guide, please park (drop-off) in/at the parking lot between the Off-Lease Dog Park and Extreme Sports Park (Skate Park). Coach Dave will meet all runners at the large, covered picnic shelter located near the Community Play area. Training at this location will include running a variety of intervals on the marked (with orange 12" cones) trail. The outside loop is approximately 1800m, with 1600m being dirt and compact gravel.

WHAT TO BRING/WEAR: Runners should attend dressed for the conditions wearing layers they can peal off as they get warm: shorts, sweat bottoms, shirt, long-sleeve shirt, windbreaker jacket, and possibly gloves and hat. Middle School Mile presented by TrackTown USA Kid's Club

WHO: Open to all registered Whisper runners

WHAT: Middle School Mile at the Oregon Twilight presented by TrackTown USA Kids Club. More information will be (should be) posted soon on athletic.net or the TrackTown event website.

WHEN: Tentative race time is 4:30pm. They are only hosting the mile for grades 6, 7, and 8 (three separate races).

TRACK EVENTS: 8th grade mile, 7th grade mile, 7th grade mile.

WHERE: Hayward Field in Eugene, OR.

USATF Oregon Youth Meet - Rex Putnam HS

WHO: Open to all registered Whisper runners

WHAT: USATF Oregon Youth Developmental Meet (click here for meet schedule, parking, concessions, etc.)

WHEN: Track events start at 10am, and the field events start at 9am. Unless this changes, Coach Dave will have the canopy set-up by 8:45am. Please have your child to the venue within 75-minutes of their first event so they have time to get their uniform, get their bib, relax, etc. Parents are welcome to come to the tent, but I prefer to place all race responsibilities onto the participants, regardless of age. From there, I will make sure everyone tending to their responsibilities (warm-ups, etc.) accordingly.

WHO: Registered Whisper runners

WHAT: Middle distance and distance training.

WHERE: Pacific Park (1515 N.E. 164th Ave - Vancouver, WA). Using the PDF map as a guide, please park (drop-off) in/at the parking lot between the Off-Lease Dog Park and Extreme Sports Park (Skate Park). Coach Dave will meet all runners at the large, covered picnic shelter located near the Community Play area. Training at this location will include running a variety of intervals on the marked (with orange 12" cones) trail. The outside loop is approximately 1800m, with 1600m being dirt and compact gravel.

What: Sprint, middle-distance, and distance training. Since HS track and field has begun, we will train at the Hudson’s Bay HS track, dirt track to the south of Hudson’s Bay HS, or nearby location.

When: We will aim to start and finish on-time.

Where: Start and finish location on nice days will be at the Hudson’s Bay High School Track, 1601 E McLoughlin Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98663. On terribly cold and/or windy days, we may finish at Clark College in the OSC building room. At 6:45pm, we will meet parents in front of OSC in the Red 2 parking lot. WHO: Registered runners preparing for the 2025 Track season (or MS XC season)

WHAT: Running & Cross-Training.

WHEN: Classroom 8:50-9:10am, 9:10-10:15am run/run-based activities, and cross-training until 11:00am. End at the track on nice days, or in the classroom on cold/wet days.

WHERE: O’Connell Sports Center (OSC) 219. Park/Drop-off in Red #1 or #2. Click here to view a campus map.

WHAT TO BRING/WEAR: Runners should come dressed and ready to run. For cooler mornings, runners should have a short sleeve shirt beneath a long sleeve shirt, with a windbreaker style jacket as their outer layer. Keep in mind that layers can be easily removed and tied around ones waist while running. As long as the temperature is above freezing, most runners should be comfortable wearing running shorts. Runners should also bring water in a reusable water bottle (no plastic water bottles). Have a towel in the car in case they are wet.

Thursday, Clark College OSC 219, 5:30-6:30pm

Welcome to Winter Training!

Who: All athletes registered in Winter Training at Whisper Running.

What: Yoga/Stretching/Mobility Training. Upon arrival, runners should sign-in on the clipboard located on the counter in 219, place their belongings along the wall at the back of the room, and find a place to lay their mat.

A few extra miles!: Intermediate and advanced distance runners are planning to meet for some easy miles at 4:30pm in the Red 1 or Red 2 parking lot at Clark College, prior to the mobility session. If you would like to run 4-6 miles prior to the mobility session, meet Coach Dave in the Red 1/2 parking lot at 4:30pm and we will head out for an easy run together. Belongings may be left in the bed of Coach Dave’s truck prior to departing for the run.

When: Please arrive 10-minutes early, and plan to depart the school by 6:30pm.

Where: Clark College OSC (O’Connell Sports Center), second floor in room 219 (gym). Park or drop-off in parking lot Red 1 or Red 2. Click here to view a campus map.

What to Bring/Wear: Runners must bring their own yoga mat, wearing clothes they can comfortably stretch in. They should also bring a reusable water bottle with them (no plastic water bottles).

Who: Registered runners preparing for the spring Club Track, High School Track, or Middle School Track/XC).

What: Sprint, middle-distance, and distance training. Upon arrival, runners should sign-in on the clipboard beneath the canopy, place their belongings under or around the canopy, and begin lightly jogging around the track or on the turf around the soccer field (yellow line).

When: We will aim to start practice no later than 6:35pm and end by 7:55pm.

Where: McKenzie Stadium is located at 2211 NE 138thh Ave in Vancouver, behind Evergreen HS (north side of EHS).

What to Bring/Wear: Runners should attend dressed for the conditions wearing layers they can peal off as they get warm: shorts, sweat bottoms, shirt, long-sleeve shirt, windbreaker jacket, and possibly gloves and hat. They should also bring a water, small snack, and any medicines/pharmaceuticals they might need (inhaler, EpiPen, etc.). Who: 4th-8th grade registered runners preparing for spring track (or spring XC for ESD/VSD middle school runners).

What: Weightlifting via barbells, dumbbells, bodyweight, and more. Anyone wishing to get in a run prior to their designated time may do so on their own accord. This means coordinating a meet-up with fellow runners, and for the younger runners, including parental supervision.

When: 6:00-6:50pm for 4th through 8th grade participants.

Where: Evergreen High School Weight Room at 14300 NE 18th St, Vancouver, WA. Park in the SW parking lot and enter through the east doors. Once inside, take the staircase upstairs to the second floor, turn right, and we are just ahead on the left. See school map below.

What to Bring/Wear: Clothes one may exercise comfortably in.

Thursday - Propstra Aquatic Center, 5:15-6:15pm

Who: Athletes registered in the Whisper Running Winter Training program.

What: Aqua jogging is a therapeutic way to enhance recover between bouts of exercise, and being a low-pressure setting away from the track, it’s a great way to meet fellow runners in the program. We will engage in aqua jogging, which is running in water. The pool is between 4’ and 5’ deep. Water belts will be provided as needed. Deck work may be performed between aqua jogging bouts, so bring a Yoga mat, although if you don’t have one that is fine. We will exit the pool no later than 6:10pm to allow for drying off and changing in the locker room as needed. Parents should be prepared to pick-up their child at 6:15pm.

A few extra miles!: Intermediate and advanced distance runners are planning to meet for some easy miles at 4:30pm in the Propstra parking lot, prior to the Aqua-Jogging session. If you would like to run 4-6 miles prior to the water session, meet Coach Dave in the parking lot at 4:30pm and we will head out for an easy run together. If you are planning to join the run, arrive in running clothes with your swim clothes in a separate bag, which may be left in the bed of Coach Dave’s truck prior to departing for the run.

When: Please drop your child off no earlier than 5-minutes before the scheduled start time. We will start and finish on-time.

Where: We will meet at the Propstra Aquatic Center for cross-training and aqua-jogging. The Propstra address is 605 N Divine Rd in Vancouver.
