WHO: Registered Whisper runners
WHAT: Bring Your Own Spoon practice! BYOS is an effort to promote the “Reduce” in Reduce-Reuse-Recycle, and cutting down on single-use plastics. Kids, pack your spoons and bring them to practice, for a post-workout treat and celebration into the new XC season!
4:15-5:15pm, beginning middle distance and distance running training.
5:30-6:45pm, intermediate & advanced middle distance and distance running training.
WHEN: Please drop your child off no earlier than 5-minutes before the scheduled start time.
WHERE: We will begin and end at the Hudson’s Bay High School Track. Training will take place at the track, on the 1k loop at Clark College, on the dirt track along Mill Plain & Reserve, at Fort Vancouver National Park, or around the downtown area. We will always aim to be back on-time for departure.
WEATHER & WHAT TO WEAR/BRING: Please be sure your child is dressed for the conditions. Wearing layers that can easily be taken off and wrapped around their waistline is advised. A headlamp will be encouraged once the nights begin to fall a little earlier, which is around mid-October. Other items to consider: a towel to dry off and keep your car from getting messy (sometimes the kids track in dirt from runs), and a waist belt that can carry a phone (if your child has a phone) in case they get lost (while it’s happened only twice in nine years, it does happen - for the record, the kids were fine, and they were back at the start/finish before the end of practice).
