Couve Clover Run - Booth Volunteer!

Whether you run or volunteer, it would be great to see as many Whisper runners present at the fourth annual Couve Clover Run representing team Whisper!

The Couve Clover Run includes three races - 3, 7, & 10 mile races - starting at 9am. If you would like to volunteer, there are many options throughout the morning and early afternoon, including booth set-up, team rep throughout the event, and booth take-down. The race starts at 9am and will last until approximately 11am, with the after party lasting until approximately 1pm. Set-up begins promptly at 6:30am, while take-down will begin around 1pm. You are welcome to volunteer at any time throughout the day.  Refreshments will be provided for all volunteers.

Duties will include:

  • Setting up canopies, flags, tables, booth decorations, and runner handouts/flyers/stickers, etc.

  • Team reps will distribute handouts/flyers/stickers, promote Whisper by talking with interested parents and runners about the Whisper program (discussing your experience with Whisper), and having fun!

  • Taking down canopies, flags, tables, and booth decorations.

As you could have guessed, the Couve Clover Run is in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, so be sure to wear a fine balance of Whisper swag and the color green!

Also, if you would like to run the race and volunteer, click here to register for any of the three races! Youth runners (under 18) are free, and parents are encouraged to race (walk, jog, crawl, etc.) too!

USATF Junior Olympic XC Association Meet

General Information: The following link is a downloadable PDF which includes the meet schedule, age divisions, parking, team scoring, and more, for the 2018 USATF PacNW XC Association Meet. An updated, 2019 copy will be uploaded here when it is made available (around October). Since this meet has been held at the same venue for many consecutive years, there will likely not be any changes. Click here for the downloadable 2018 PDF.

Race: The USATF Junior Olympic pursuit to Nationals starts here at the Association Meet.

Course Preview: I will plan to be at Woodland Park by 4pm on Friday for a course preview. I do realize that this is a less than desirable time, given school and work schedules, along with drive time, but it will allow us time to check into our hotel(s) (see Lodging below) and make it to dinner (see Dinner below) on-time.

Start Times: Click here for race information and race start times.

Travel: The location of this race is Woodland Park, just north of Seattle.

Lodging: In the past we have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, which is a few miles from the park. There is also a pool, so be sure to bring a swimsuit!

Dinner: There are several options, but in the spirit of distance running, we will be having dinner at the Tutta Bella at 7pm.  Click here for the Tutta Bella website, menu, and location.  This venue is less than a mile from the hotel, so we will plan to walk. In the case of rain, be sure to bring an umbrella.

Whisper Runners: Plan to meet at the Whisper canopy in Woodland Park within 90-minutes of the start of your race.

Monday Winter Training - Weather Dependant (click to read)

Who: Registered runners preparing for the 2019 Track season.

What and When depends on Where:

  • If the Vancouver Public Schools office cancels school, then practice will be at Clark College, 6:00pm-7:30pm.

  • If the VPS is closed and Clark is closed, then there will be no practice.

Facilities:

  • If we train at Propstra, we will run for 15-20 first, then swim/cross-train (6:15-7:45pm).

  • If we train at Clark, we will do video analysis in a classroom and then run wherever we can (snow will limit us), then go inside the gym for cross-training (6:00-7:30pm).

No matter what we do, please make your best decision on whether or not you should make the drive to practice.  Safety is paramount, so please allow extra time when driving in this stuff.
