Whisper Running began as a blank slate for coaching runners. While I had coached runners at the college level for 13 years, I had no idea what age demographic Whisper would serve when it was initially formed. In fact, in the infancy of business development, Whisper Athletics was one of the business name options. Young or old, I’d work with who showed up. Upon offering training similar to how sessions are offered now, a handful of runners attended - a few youth, and one lady in her 30’s named Niki. After a few months, both Niki and I saw the writing on the wall in that Whisper was forming into a youth running organization. Whisper Team CornerIf your child is participating in Club Track with Whisper Running this spring, please be sure of the following: You are receiving regular emails (about one per week) and have received the recent email requesting RSVP into the USATF Oregon JO Developmental T&F Meet on Saturday, April 19. Reply or text Coach Dave if you are not receiving these emails. Your child is registered with USATF and Whisper (these are separate registrations) - see the Join the Team page for links and details. Your child has an active Runcard or Annual Membership. Remain current on the Calendar, noting a few recent updates: Tuesday’s will now be training at Fisher Basin Park (Shahala MS), 5:30-06:45pm. Wednesday, April 9, we will conclude in the OSC219 classroom at 7:30pm in Clark College, watching the 46-minute film, The Finisher: Jasmine Paris and the Barkley Marathon. Lake to Bay is a single-day, 1-7 person team, 62.2-mile (100k) relay or ultramarathon event venturing through the beautiful cities of Vancouver and Camas, Washington. Teams begin in waves every 20-minutes from Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park, run to downtown Vancouver, loop clockwise around Vancouver and Camas, passing through 20+ local parks and trails, before finishing along the Old Evergreen Highway, and into the newly developed Vancouver Waterfront!
